Usually, shooting three times your age isn't a good thing in golf. But it is if you're Rory McIlroy and your 21 years old. The Northern Irishman has stormed to the discount golf clubhouse lead with the lowest opening round in Open Championship history.
R-Mac shot a 63 – the equal lowest round in any Major ever – but it could have one better if he hadn’t missed a two-foot birdie putt at the controversial Road callaway x-24 hot irons Hole. I’m happy to be in the clubhouse with a 63,” he said.
