Carefully with your settings in Album Configuration!
Firstly, I recommend you to enable the thumbnail cache (Default is enabled)
Secondly, look at Optimize for the version of GD option in the Album Configuration. The default setting is Version 1. This setting will make sure your Album worked in all versions of GD (You have GD installed, right?). Only when you had GD v2 installed, you should switch this setting to Version 2 for better quality thumbnails. Please note that I said only when..., if you turned setting to "Optimize for GD version 2" blindly, your upload would stop working with a lot of "garbage"!
-> How to know which version of GD are you using?
Easily, ask your server admin
OR run a phpinfo.php

Thirdly, beware with Hotlink Prevention! In very few of cases you should turn it OFF
PS: good news for unlucky people who cannot install GD, I will do the Manual Thumbnail Upload (not sure it will come out which number of BETA)  |
